Welcome, & Welcome Back

The Circle buzzed with activity on Sunday, September 7, as both new and returning students arrived and moved into their dorms.

For the 2014-15 School year, Groton welcomes 99 new students from 19 U.S. states and 10 countries. Twenty-seven join as Second Former (eighth graders), 60 as Third Formers, nine as Fourth Formers, and three as Fifth or Sixth Formers.

New international students traveled to Groton from Botswana, Canada, China, France, Hong Kong, Pakistan, South Africa, South Korea, and Thailand. Of Groton's new students, 85 are boarders are 14 are day students. Seventeen have siblings who are either Groton students or graduates.

On Sunday, before saying their goodbyes, parents met with dormitory heads and advisors, and heard a brief address from Headmaster Temba Maqubela. New students attended orientation sessions and met their Sixth Former advisors, who help introduce them to Groton.

Despite the influx of students on Sunday, the campus had not been quiet the week before: Groton’s Sixth Formers arrived on campus last week, as did varsity athletes, who attended preseason training.

Groton extends a warm welcome to all new students and their families, and a "welcome back" to those returning to the Circle!
