"The Fat of the Land" by Gints Grinbergs
September 16 through November 18, 2019
Sculptor Gints Grinbergs welds metal into natural forms and creates entire environments with them. "The Fat of the Land" transforms the de Menil Gallery into a world of metal flowers and found-object creatures, a geometric and contemporary homage to nature.
Grinbergs' sculptures—many of them large-scale, outdoor works—have been on display in various museums and galleries, including the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park in Lincoln, Massachusetts. The artist earned a BFA and a BA in architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design and also studied at Massachusetts College of Art and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
