Ornaments & Applications
In this last correspondence of 2024, I would have preferred to provide you with a picture of this campus blanketed in snow, but we have only had a little bit of the white stuff this year so the image I offer of the holiday season at Groton is a close up of our family Christmas tree. Can you find the Groton Zebra? The flag of Scotland? A famed baseball slugger? We will send a Groton t-shirt to the first person who can name the slugger with an email to
admission@groton.org.
I have been writing to applicants throughout the fall. If you missed any of these messages (perhaps you did not inquire until recently), you can access these messages on our
website. You may find some helpful information in these messages. Mid-December brings thoughts of a break from schoolwork, the pleasures of the holidays, and—for some readers—the labor of completing applications. Yes, writing responses to questions on applications is work, but we hope that the introspection involved will stimulate some interesting ideas about your life and the world in which we are living. We wish you well with your thinking! The application is due on January 15. The Gateway to Prep Schools application system can be clogged at the deadline, so we recommend submitting a day or two early if possible.
While I am bringing attention to the business of completing applications, I think it is more important to prioritize enjoying your time with friends and family. These special moments cannot be recaptured. Applications and family fun? You can do both! Just do a little bit of application work each day. Slow and steady wins the race!As many of you know, our traditional service of Nine Lessons & Carols is taking place on Thursday, December 19 at 7:00 p.m. You can view the livestream of the performance
here.
Thank you for the interest that you have shown in Groton in 2024. 2025 is just around the corner!
Happy Holidays!
