Our traditional rivals from St. Mark's came to Groton today for what shaped up to be another close, competitive match. With excellent sportsmanship and team spirit on both sides, games were very close on one court after another. The Groton players got a big boost of confidence in the first round when Trip Wight held off a strong opponent to win his fifth game 11-8 and Hansen Zheng played terrific squash to bring the team an unexpected point with a strong three-game win. In the second round, Arthur Murray and Samuel Lu took control of their matches before Yanbo Pei stayed sharp while working hard to close out his match with a 16-14 third game.
This is the fourth match in a row that could have gone either way but ended up in Groton's favor. These players are practicing very well and competing even better!
