Groton Powers Past Portsmouth Abbey with 6-3 Win

Groton erupted for six goals in the final two periods to take down Portsmouth Abbey 6-3, securing another strong victory.

The scoring started early in the second period when Angus Miller capitalized on a setup from Rafael Aberbach and Elliot Wood at 2:29. Minutes later, Zach Baker doubled the lead, finishing a 4-on-4 opportunity off feeds from Nate Moons and Bruce Li at 5:50. Groton wasn’t done yet—Moons extended the lead to 3-0 late in the period, burying a pass from Harrison Freelove and Wood at 13:51.

Just over a minute into the third, Alejandro Hassan kept the momentum rolling, striking on the power play with help from Li and Wood. Less than two minutes later, Jacob Bellinger made it 5-0, converting a feed from Miller and Aberbach. After Portsmouth Abbey got on the board, Hassan responded with his second power-play goal of the game at 12:46, again assisted by Li and Wood, capping off Groton’s offensive surge.

Goaltender Wes DiModica stood tall in net, stopping 31 of 34 shots to secure the win. With this victory, Groton improved to 15-9-0, continuing their strong push late in the season.
