Groton falls to Exeter

Groton lost to a deep and forceful Exeter squad, 6-1. Playing at home indoors, the boys played many tough points to start the match, yet dropped all doubles contests. In singles, they fought valiantly, yet lost four matches in straight sets at #3 (Miles Zhang), #4 (Thaddaeus Flatz-Ehrfeld), #5 (Charlie Stubbs), and #6 (Max Fan).  At #2, Sam Lu, split sets and then lost in a 10-point tie-breaker.  At #1, Captain Trip Wight played brilliant tennis once again, beating a very strong player decisively in straight sets.

The squad heads to Connecticut this weekend for the Kingswood-Oxford tournament, where they have a five-year championship winning streak on the line.
