Groton defeats Middlesex on the road, 7-0

John Conner
In their first road trip of this magical, back-to-life season, the boys headed to Concord to play Middlesex. The weather was perfect, and the boys played superb tennis.  Groton earned the doubles point as Captains Ben Jones and Jared Gura won at #1, Larry Li and Griffin Gura won at #2, and Captain Noah Bay and Will Molson won at #3.  Shortly afterwards, the boys played singles, and also won every single set. J. Gura, Li, Jones, G. Gura, Molson and Jack Lionette won at numbers #1-6, while Bay and Will Vrattos won in exhibition play.

Middlesex had a number of very fine players, yet they were not able to match the shotmaking, consistency and mental focus of this Groton team. Said Coach Conner, "It was a classic day of Groton boys tennis. Even against a strong opponent, Groton played tough tennis. They focused only on the next shot ahead of them, and, as a team, put together a sparkling performance. I am very proud of their efforts to date."

Next week, Brooks will come to campus. The boys will work hard this week to be sure their opponents are greeted with some very fine play.
