While there are activities every weekend, the Parents Weekend festivities are always of a greater sort. Often, the greatest of them all is the Night Game on the old turf, aka Coco.
Parents Weekend is consistently a very busy weekend of Dinners, conferences, artistic events, and sports games, of which the biggest is the Friday night soccer game. Tonight was no exception. It started at lunch today, when the student organizers handed out T-shirts saying “Roll Zeebs.”
The real action came later though. With everyone decked out in spirit gear, the wonderful dining hall staff provided all the spectators with chili, cookies, hot apple cider, and hot chocolate. But the game against Tabor really was the highlight of the night. Serodio tore through their defense and scored a beautiful goal to put the team up 1-0. But Tabor wasn’t far behind, and scored within a minute. Then, after ten minutes of intense battle, halftime began. 1-1.
So, of course, two friends and I went onto Coco, commandeered a game ball, and proceeded to mess around, taking shots on each other in the goal that was just occupied by far better players. Unfortunately, those named better players took back the field and forced us off.
However, the second half was just as action-packed as the first. After a bitter and hard-fought back and forth, with just ten minutes left Eddy scored, pushing us over the threshold for the win.
