Winter Bread: different daily breads served throughout the winter term at lunchtime by the Dining Hall. It is one of the most anticipated parts of winter lunches, and I’d argue, of winter term itself.
But there is no bread at the start of the season, the two weeks between November and December breaks. In addition, the weeks tend to be busy and can quickly turn into what feels like a month. So the presidents of Active Minds attempted to sweeten up a lunch and boost morale during the period; we sponsored a day of winter bread.
We ordered loaves of gluten-free banana bread from a local bakery, cut them into bite-sized pieces (props to Hanna), and left them up for grabs at the beginning of lunch. By the end of the day, the cutting board, once home to the pile of bread, lay empty. And reviews of the event were nothing but positive. It was a success!
Although a small Active Minds offering, it sparked excitement and happiness among people who engaged. Their responses make me even more excited for the event's continuation next year!
