Last Saturday, I spent my whole afternoon in the Athletic Center. Not on a court or skating around the rink, however, but in the fan sections at the hockey and basketball games against our rivals, St. Marks.
Decked out in my red fedora, a shirt that displayed the “L” in ROLL ZEEBS!, and my Groton flag harnessed to a hockey stick, I hustled between the basketball gym and the bleachers in the O’Brien Rink to catch as many minutes of the competition as I could. Our cheers ranged from ice-shattering “Let’s Go Groton” chants to deafening cries of “Defense” as we watched our friends play. And while I can’t attribute our victorious St. Mark’s Day to everyone’s exuberant display of school spirit, cheering on the school with my close friends until my throat hurt made my afternoon.
