Cui Servire in Action: Students Flock to Service Opportunities
In just the first three weeks of the year, 70 students already have contributed their time to service programs in the communities surrounding Groton School. They have sorted food and clothing donations at Loaves and Fishes, served hot meals at Our Father's House, looked after young children at a transitional housing facility in Devens, volunteered at Grotonfest, and helped with the Town of Groton's September Community Dinner.
Among the Groton students helping to serve, clear, and wash dishes at the Groton Community Dinner was the School's football team, who volunteered en masse.
Some Groton Upper School students opt for community service as their afternoon activity, in lieu of sports or theater. This fall, eight students are volunteering at the Lowell Community Charter School on Mondays and Wednesdays and at Transitions, a center for women and children, on Thursdays.
