The Groton girls’ hockey team kicked off their 24-25 season with a solid 4-2 victory over Portsmouth Abbey. The Zebras were efficient on special teams, with Tina Scalese '26 opening the scoring on a power-play goal in the second period, while Maddie Cronan '25, Ella Nannene '26, and Jamie Noonan '26 each added to the lead. Nora Wilson '27 was stellar in net, making key saves to keep Portsmouth Abbey at bay and preserving the win. With the season now underway, Groton’s focus quickly shifts to their next game, as they prepare for their home opener against Kimball Union Academy on Saturday at 4 p.m. in the O’Brien Rink. The Zebras will look to build on this promising start.
