St. Andrew's College Take Down Groton
The 50th Anniversary Groton Lawrence Holiday Ice Hockey Tournament
Groton put up an impressive fight against St. Andrew’s College, the top-ranked team in North America, in a hard-fought 4-1 loss. After holding SAC to a 2-0 lead through two periods, Groton struck early in the third when Kaiden Donia found the back of the net off a well-executed play by Connor Wig and Harrison Freelove, narrowing the gap to 2-1. Wes DiModica stood tall in net for the Zebras, making several key saves to keep the game within reach. Groton continued to press for the equalizer, pulling their goalie late in the game in an effort to tie it up. Despite their relentless push, SAC capitalized on the open net twice in the final minutes, sealing the victory. The game was a testament to Groton’s grit and determination, as they went toe-to-toe with an exceptional opponent and demonstrated their resilience on the ice.
