Groton competes in Kingswood-Oxford Tournament

The Groton boys tennis team returned to West Hartford this weekend to play in the Kingswood Oxford Invitational Tennis Tournament. Groton had won this tournament the last five years it was held (2018, 2019, 2022, 2023, 2024) with the itournament cancelled in 2020 and 2021 because of COVID.

This year, the boys fought valiantly (Trip Wight, Sam Lu, Miles Zhang, Thaddaeus Flatz-Ehrfeld, Charlie Stubbs), but were not in contention, having been eliminated in all main draws in singles and doubles the first day of the tournament. Though Groton picked up a few points here and there, they ended up in 7th place out of eight teams competing. Deerfield was crowned champion with Choate in 2nd place.,

This week will feature the ISL opener on Wednesday. As always, Coach Conner feels bullish about the future. "We have a team of eager and motivated athletes. With more experience and practice, the team will improve and the victories will come."
