Here Comes The Sun

After nearly three weeks of indoor play, the Groton Girls finally stepped onto the outdoor courts, making their long awaited debut against crosstown rival Lawrence Academy.

 

LA, a much improved and well coached team, put up a strong showing in doubles. But once again, the steady play and sharp teamwork of the Lady Zeebs proved too much to handle, earning Groton a commanding 3-0 lead out of the gate.

 

Singles play brought even more intensity, with competitive matches across the lineup. The Spartans refused to go quietly, challenging Groton at every turn. But with focused, disciplined hitting and a deep well of determination, the Groton Girls powered through to lock up each match.

 

As golden hour hit, teammates and fans gathered to watch Lindy close out a gritty, hard fought final match, securing the sweep and sealing a 9-0 victory. With that, the bragging rights for Groton Township are safe for another year.

 

It’s a quick turnaround this week, with a road trip to Thayer up next on Wednesday. The Zebras are looking to stay sharp and keep the momentum rolling.
