Groton’s boys JV hockey team plays in the competitive ISL, opposing league schools such as Brooks, St. Mark’s, Rivers, Governor’s, and Middlesex. The balance of the schedule includes non-league games against opponents such as Cushing, Pomfret, and Winchendon, as well as teams from local select programs and high schools. This schedule allows all players, regardless of ability or experience, significant playing time over the course of the season.
A typical week includes two games and four hour-long practices. Players on “JV Puck” have a wide range of skill levels. Our goal is to provide players interested in trying out for varsity with the skills and knowledge to be successful, while also providing a positive learning experience for those who prefer to continue at the JV level. All take advantage of Groton’s exceptional facilities, which include two rinks and a weight room, where they can improve strength and conditioning.
