Tectonic Theatre Moment Workshop & Military Tattoo

Harriet Mullins & Evelyn Cai
This morning, we did a workshop on Moment Making with the Tectonic Theater Project. In small groups we built theatrical moments using different elements of theater and shared with the group.
We split up to see to a morning show, including After Troy, I really think this is going to change your life and more. Then, we got lunch in small groups, and went to see another high school play from the Bentley School. This play, called On the Flip Side, was a series of short pieces based on postcards that the audience picked from a box.

After, we went back to the dorms to rest and have dinner. We had an 8pm performance of our own show, which was our first time performing with cast B. In cast B, the roles of Caleb and Jude are played by Callum and Sophie as opposed to Liam and Erika.

After our show, some of us with more energy to burn headed out to see a youth production of Spring Awakening, which was our only full-length and traditional musical - it had been on Broadway! In line, we met some of the BB&N kids who saw our show and had a great conversation with them! Freddy says that he enjoyed Spring Awakening so much that he never even slept or looked at his phone for A WHOLE HOUR AND A HALF!

The next morning, all of us felt exhausted so only a few went to Shakespeare for Breakfast, which is exactly what it sounds like, while others slept in a bit. We then went to our final performance of Away Went the World. The show went great! After, split up to eat lunch and see afternoon shows. Different people saw different things, including ARI, Chris Grace: Sardines, Lessons on Revolution, I am yours sincerely, Celya AB, and more. So within a short span of time our group collectively saw a huge variety of shows from different genres and places.

We returned to the dorms for dinner, then met at the Fringe Shop on the Royal Mile to go together to the Military Tattoo at the Castle. The Tattoo had performers from the UK, India, and the US. There was some pretty impressive bagpiping. There were fireworks too! We talked about our shows from the day and our opinions on the tattoo as we took the bus back to the dorms, tired and ready for bed.
