Le Festin

From APUSH and Organic Chemistry tests to Biochemistry problem sets, college applications, and off-campus hockey, I’m not going to lie, senior fall has been a bit more than I expected.
But despite the hectic schedule and mildly horrendous workload, this term, I’ve already made so many memories that I will cherish forever.

6 a.m. skates on the Pratt, beating Eram, our goalie, at rebound and making him get us all drinks in the Dining Hall, late night 10–12 excursions to the Schoolhouse. And just this morning, fan sectioning the Chapel Talk of one of my best friends at Groton, Arjun.

Addressing the entire school, Juice eloquently extolled his admiration for former U.S Senator Bronson M. Cutting’s “belligerent independence,” a quality that Juice believed Cutting to have developed because of his formative years at Groton School.

But while Juice’s Chapel Talk was undoubtedly excellent, the musical offering given afterwards by Evan and Eric, another two of my closest friends, was entirely brilliant. As Eric played his violin to the tune of “Le Festin” from Ratatouille, Evan began expelling strange, oddly-fart-like noises from his french horn. It was just too much, and soon, the entire fan section (Evan included) and the rest of the Chapel were all doubled over in laughter.

In fact, right now, as I sit in the middle of the library writing this post, Evan and Eric are looking over my shoulder, doing their best to not snort too loudly and catch the attention of Mr. Melchior, the library director.

They’re really not good at this try not to laugh thing. Sorry, Mr. Melchior.

But in all seriousness, I can’t believe that it’s already more than halfway through my last Fall term at Groton, and it just seems so surreal that it’ll all be over soon—November 1 is just a few short days away, and fall exam week is only two weeks after that. But pop Organic Chemistry quizzes and college applications notwithstanding, I have to say, I’ve really enjoyed my last autumn at Groton.
