Groton Activities: Active Minds, International Community Advising Program, swimming, cross country
Most surprising when you first arrived at Groton: Spirit Week. When I arrived at Groton, I never expected to see such school spirit among the students preparing for upcoming matches. It is a dorm competition in which almost everybody participated, dressing up according to theme and cheering for fellow dormmates in brief, silly games. During that week, I was shocked to find every match jam-packed as it became clear that Groton students always would show up and support each other.
Favorite class: My favorite class at Groton so far has been Honors Chemistry. Mr. Lamarre-Vincent, our teacher, picked exciting topics to teach alongside the foundations of chemistry and radiated passion for his lessons daily. I bonded with my class as we joined forces and arduously worked together during office hours before an upcoming test or problem set, but most importantly, the chemistry experiments were the highlights of my year.
Most memorable Groton moment: Making Rockets for Chemistry. Near the end of last spring term, we isolated oxygen and hydrogen molecules in a plastic bottle and took them outside. Then, we placed them upside down and sparked a small fire, creating a reaction that sent the bottle soaring through the skies. It was a fantastic way to end the school year alongside my friends.
Favorite Dining Hall food: Banana Bread
Favorite place to study: When it is nice outside, I love studying outside on the Circle.
