Fun Events in the Boston Area

“Let’s do something fun today.” If anyone were to have walked into the room after my friend uttered that sentence, they would have encountered two teens hunched over their phones. We were scouring the internet for “fun events in the Boston area.” Luckily, we found a gold mine of a website—the Boston Calendar for those curious—that supplied us with most of the day’s itinerary.
We started our adventure at an outdoor jazz concert in Medford, MA. There was a decent crowd, and the black blanket we brought lay between us and the grass—soon transformed by our shoes and bags into a colorful canvas. We listened and swayed to the music, enjoying everything from the saxophone’s growl to the calm breeze. And when we yearned for a new experience, the Boston Calendar easily found another event: a pop-up vintage market.

Rows of white canopies and shoppers of all ages filled the market in Somerville, MA. We saw merchandise ranging from original World War I posters to corn. Yeah, I agree. That last part isn’t so vintage. But there were kind people and intriguing items, so the somewhat-vintage market made for a good pastime. We even spoke with one couple about the aged books for sale (see image). Eventually, having seen the entire market, my friend and I found ourselves enjoying a small park across the street. We bought blue raspberry and mango slush on our way over and stayed until the day turned to dusk.

Although time with friends may not always be spent at a concert or vintage market at Groton, I anticipate that during this upcoming school year, we will have equally as much fun on campus.
